2020 Street Smart Multicultural Festival

Baba Mazari Foundation (BMF) in partnership with Lutheran Community Care (LCC), Afghan Youth of South Australia (AYSA) and the Association of Australian Tertiary Students from Afghanistan (AATSA) is organising a one-day Multicultural Street Festival to celebrate Nawroz and Harmony Day on 21 March 2020 from 11am to 5pm in Prospect Rd, Blair Athol SA 5084.

The aim of the project is to acknowledge Nawroz (the new year of Afghans, Iranians and some other countries in the region) and Harmony Day as a symbol of unity and cultural diversity in South Australia. This Street Smart Multicultural Festival is planned as one-day street festival to engage different community groups to expand their connection and relationship with other communities as well as Australian mainstream society.

Community groups, art groups and businesses can participate and showcase their culture through performances such as dance, music and traditional activities or providing food, handcraft, jewellery, etc.

This festival is supported by a grant from Multicultural Affairs, Department of the Premier and Cabinet. The city of Port Adelaide Enfield contributed funding towards the festival.

To participate in the festival, the interested groups are required to complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) forms here and return by 10 February 2020.
